The holiday season is already here jingling its bells, and that means it’s time to start thinking about throwing the ultimate party, whether it's a Christmas bash or a celebration of new year's eve! So in case I haven't mentioned it already (which I think is improbable) parties are my expertise, and the last years I've thrown quite a few Xmas season parties. So this year, I have you covered with a party checklist, to ensure that your gathering is one for the books!

Step one: set mood and rules!
Alright, first things first—what’s the mood of the party? Are you into dancing the night away, or are you more the cocooning type? Choose wise what is more important to you, and please make sure your guests share your idea of fun, or don't call them at all. Most of us have a granny we love, but she shouldn't lose her good night sleep, so that she get drunk and wasted with us (unless she's into that stuff!)
So first decide if you'll throw a loud music and drinks party, or a Christmas movie marathon and set your rules accordingly. For example, in a loud party you could set a "no kids" rule, and a movie marathon could have an "Ugly Holiday Sweater" dress code.
Step two: Invite and excite!
It's important to let people know and get reminded of your party. A proper invitation will do the job perfectly by setting the tone. Be thoughtful and protect the environment by sending your invites through email, or by creating an event on social media.
It's also a nice idea to head to platforms such as Canva to create your perfect invitation, or find one that suits you best!
Step three: Food and Drinks
Now, let’s talk about eating and drinking! Unless it's a dinner party, keep it simple and not too much in case of food. Finger food and cheese platters can be more than enough, as we will focus on drinks. But how much is too much you may ask. Well as a rule of thumb, think like five pieces of finger food is enough for each guest. In case of a movie marathon, things are simpler: Chips and popcorn in big holiday themed bowls!
Now when it comes to drinks, I always use a party drink calculator because, come on, it's a science of its own, and I'm not too willing to do the math.
Step four: The decorations and music
It's very important to decorate your party according to the theme. At least a week before, decide on the decorations that may include twinkly lights, garlands, and of course a disco ball. And of course go to instagram or pinterest for many deco ideas!
In the same tone, the music must be chosen at least some days before. Prepare your playlist, or ask someone who has a good taste in music do the deed!
Step five: Activities to Keep the Party Rolling
What’s a holiday party without some fun? Here’s a shortlist of activities that’ll keep everyone entertained:
Karaoke Sing-Along: Everyone loves belting out some holiday hits. Bonus if someone takes on Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Secret Santa: Organize a gift exchange. Set a budget to keep things stress-free.
Photo Booth: Create a little corner with props and festive backdrops for some silly pics! For more fun, create your own hashtags on social media!
Home casino: You want to hit that black jack but Las Vegas is out of reach? There are lots of casino games on internet to buy your own. Slot machines and poker sets can be placed around, so that your guests can enjoy that casino feeling!
